Jess Millar

Welcome to my portfolio.  I am a 3D game artist and have worked on projects such as Proxy Soldier, a game created in my graduating year of college, as well as a VR game for the National Science and Innovation Gala.  I have mentored a high school student while creating renders of a Science and Innovation center for their high school.  Currently I focus my efforts on several personal projects including a collaboration with another game developer.

My Qualifications include :

3D Modeling

  • Taking interesting concepts and recreating them in 3D


  • Strong attention to even the smallest of details


  • Patience and consistent effort throughout the entire process

Texturing

  • Creating high quality textures and using a variety of different texture maps to achieve realistic and aesthetically pleasing results

​

Animation

  • Creating life from previously inanimate things


  • Creating fun and believable animations that fit the theme of the character, creature or object

​

I currently work in the Ottawa area and am recently graduated from Algonquin College's Game Development program.

Menasco Moth

This plane is a steampunked version of the De Havilland D.H.82C2 Menasco Moth.  It was created for a VR game that was showcased at the National Science and Innovation Gala.

These characters was created to serve as pilots for the steampunked De Havilland D.H.82C2 Menasco Moth plane.

Science and Innovation Center Renders

These are renders of a Science and Innovation center that is to be built for a local high school. On this project I worked to educate a student on how to model, texture, animate and create realistic lighting and rendered images of the Science and Innovation center based off of floor plans we were provided.

  • Creating an art style guide to flesh out what the overall appearance of the game should look like and ensuring that other team members follow that vision.


  • Drawing concept art for the game and features in it.


  • Designing, modeling and texturing several high quality characters.

  • Teaching a student how to use 3D modelling and photo editing programs in order to create realistic models and renders of building interiors from beginning to finish using a combination of 3D modelling, texturing, animations and lighting


  • Taking floorplans provided and using those to create real life visuals of the final product


  • Taking renders and additional maps editing them using photo editing programs to enhance their quality and appearance
